More Dead Bird (Flicker) Photos

I took a few more photos of our poor dead flicker. If you click on the images, you can get full resolution. The breast feathers are pretty amazing, actually. How are those circles so perfect? And the tail feathers are interesting as well, relatively stiff feathers to help prop this bird up.

Lucia is totally attached to her dad!  It's great to see her face light up with a huge smile every time he comes home or enters the room.  He's definitely more fun and adventurous than mommy.

"My Princess" Date Night

Those of you K-drama fans already know about "My Princess" but if you've never watched Korean drama before, here's a great one to start with.  It helps that the main characters are very good looking!  We finished the series last night, which is good but also sad because I want their story to continue.  Back to life, back to reality...

Thunk

As Lucia and I were playing in the living room this afternoon, a loud thunk reverberated through the house.  It sounded similar to when the tree fell in the back yard.  So, we investigated, looked out all the windows at the backyard and saw nothing!   About an hour later when we stepped outside, we found the source of the noise.  Poor bird.

 

But the real reason we went outside today was to see the pretty flowers that are blooming in our yard.

I've sneaked some voyeuristic peeks into different people's lives via their blogs.  These are people I've never met, and 99.9% chance that I never will.  It's dawning on me, though, that they WANT me to read their blogs because they are making money and being paid to write.  Hmmm... that idea is certainly intriguing, and there are plenty of blog posts about how to make money with a blog.  As mama says, "there's no such thing as easy money" and a new blog would definitely mean work.   And, really, do I have anything interesting to say??  On the other hand, is it laziness that deters me?  I like this blog for now, and it's fun.  That's enough reward for me.

Three Month 'Do

It's already been three months since my last chemo treatment and my hair has grown fairly rapidly.  In the past couple weeks, I've gone without my hats.  Very liberating, mostly because I can hear again without the hats covering my ears!  Can't wait until I can get a cute pixie cut... stay tuned for that event in a couple months.

Peek-a-boo Part II

We've been playing countless numbers of peek-a-boo games the past month.  Somehow, little girl finds this interaction most amusing, these days especially with Halmoni.   I can honestly say I'm not tired of it yet either, simply because Lucia giggles every time.

Smile!

We are the beneficiaries of some beautiful smiles lately!  Lucia finds the whole world interesting and smiles so much these days.  Occasionally we can tickle her funny bone and hear her highly-amused laughter.   Of course it all stops when the video camera turns on!

Happy Valentine's Day

Love is in the air around here.  We noticed a bag this afternoon hanging on our door.... a surprise valentine's day cookies.  Thanks to whoever left the goodies!

Sit

This week, Lucia has been sitting.  She started with one or two seconds of sitting by herself, but today sat for several minutes alone.  She played with her toys, while maintaining good balance. 

Maintenance Rituxan

Youngin's first maintenance infusion is today. It's a 4+ hour process that she'll undergo at least three more times over the next several months. The hope is that remission time will be extended due to this extra treatment.

We're very happy to have her parents with us for a while. And they're happy to see Lucia, so it works out for everybody.

Sleep, glorious sleep

A full night's rest is almost in sight, and I can feel my muscles relaxing millimeter by millimeter.  Ahhhh....

Krispy Kreme Challenge(d)

The group of eight gathered and started the run in the cold rain this morning.  What's a good story without some rain, cold, a dozen donuts, and people-watching??  Sorry to not have any photos.  The rain deterred my enthusiasm to get out of the car and take a group shot.  Our local paper may have some interesting photos.  Troy finished with a very respectable time;  great job, especially given that despite his brutal graduate school workload, he found the time to run a few miles a week.

Reality? check

Prior to staying at home, I planned / projected / imagined / wished / hoped / wanted / thought it would great to: resume baking bread, try to make soap, organize papers and photos, attempt complex recipes that I've been wanting to try for years, clean out closets, throw away accumulated and unnecessary stuff, visit people, hit the gym 2-3 times per week, write long overdue letters, etc, etc, etc.

Reality?  A daily shower is a major accomplishment!  Not that I haven't tried some of the items on the list... even bought yeast, started on the closets (thanks to Troy's prompting), found the gym a few times, called and/or visited several people, emailed one or two.  Forget the soap.  Hold off on perfectly-timed recipes until munchkin can be unsupervised (uh, yeah, that might be three decades from now....)

Happy lunar new year, everyone!  It is officially the year of the rabbit.

Thirty-six whole months!

Three years ago today I married my dearest friend.  We've experienced some wonderful and terrifying times together, which have only made me appreciate him more.  I'm fortunate and grateful to spend every day with someone who encourages the best of me, simply by who he is.

Three years ago, we were crazy enough to plan a February wedding in Chicago.  As we should have expected during the worst month for weather, snow fell two days prior to the wedding which caused flight delays and traffic delays for our out-of-town family members.   We barely made it to our appointment with the event planner but the wedding went as beautifully as hoped.   Today, the blizzard of '11 has hit Chicago with a vengeance and at least 24 inches covers the ground with more coming down.  So, it could have been worse.

Six whole months!

Hard to believe it's already been six months when our precious girl came into this world.  She's a bright ray of sunshine everyday!  She barely cried with her shots today and her measurements show that she's maintaining her growth curve.
